Nintendo has officially confirmed that its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2, will not only support backward compatibility but also introduce upgraded editions of several of its most successful titles. Among the first games to receive enhanced versions are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Pokémon Legends Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
These enhanced editions will come with improved resolution and frame rates, as well as exclusive features specifically designed for the new hardware. Nintendo aims to offer a fresh and more immersive experience for longtime fans and new players alike.
One of the standout features is the introduction of “Zelda Notes,” a new tool within the Nintendo Switch app. This voice-guided system will help players discover hidden Koroks and Shrines more easily. Moreover, users will be able to share their creations using QR codes, creating a new layer of interaction and community engagement. This could significantly change how players collaborate, explore, and share gameplay moments.
Another exciting addition is “Jamboree TV,” an expansion for Super Mario Party Jamboree. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, one of the most anticipated titles, will be optimized for the Switch 2 with support for mouse input, a first for the franchise. The game will include two display modes: a 4K/60fps quality setting and a 1080p/120fps HDR performance mode. These upgrades are expected to make it one of the most graphically impressive games ever released on a Nintendo console.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Legends Z-A, which has yet to be released, will also benefit from these technical improvements. Higher resolution and smoother frame rates are expected to enhance the gameplay experience right from launch.
Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 versions of these titles will be available as both standalone enhanced editions and upgrade packs for those who already own the original versions. However, pricing for the upgrade packs and standalone editions has not yet been announced.
In addition to these major releases, Nintendo stated that several first-generation Switch titles will receive free updates to optimize performance on the Switch 2. This shows the company’s commitment not only to future innovations but also to improving its existing library.
